A JOURNEY OF IMAGINATION…

This is the story of friendship, imagination and four young hopefuls. Situated in the heart of Maling Road Canterbury, from humble beginnings Cafe Gateaux was established.

Our philosopy? Good quality ingredients transformed into delicious desserts, yummy treats, gorgeous cakes and of course good coffee!

NANDA & VANESHA
DESSERT & PASTRY CHEF, CAKE ENTHUSIAST

Nanda began his journey training as a pastry chef in Mauritius, later going on to pursue his passion for
dessert and chocolate in France. Upon return Nanda continued in the hospitality industry and moved to Melbourne
to take advantage of new opportunities. He has since worked at several prestigious hotels continuing to pour out his passion to create into exciting new desserts.

It wasn't until moving to Melbourne that Vanesha started to dabble in cake making, it started as a hobby
but soon became an obsession that ran late into the night. From flowers to soccer balls, working with sugar soon grew into a daily routine. Thankfully Vanesha decided to stick with her love of cake decorating and it wasn't long before she was soon receiving orders to cater and bring those inspirations to life.

FINE FOOD LOVERS & COFFEE DEVOTEES

Brett and Sarah have always appreciated great food as well as Brett being a coffee lover! Coming from a country background, they aim to offer a relaxed and hospitable environment whilst enjoying scrumptious treats. Having worked in Sarah’s family reception venue and Sarah in a gourmet sandwich bar while at university, they come with experience and passion. It has been a dream of theirs to own a café and when the opportunity came to join Nanda and Vanesha in joining with their creative cake skills, Café Gateaux was created. Their wish is for customers to retreat into a coffee and cake haven in a hint of French style.
